Life term expected in sex abuse

Jerry Sandusky should be sent to prison for life when a judge sentences him Tuesday, according to several of the jurors who convicted the former Penn State assistant coach of molesting several boys over a period of years.

None of the jurors said they have had second thoughts about their June verdict.

Four jurors said they plan to be in the courtroom when Sandusky, 68, learns the penalty for sexually abusing boys he met through a charity for at-risk children.

Sandusky's own attorney expects his client to be handed a long sentence from Judge John Cleland after conviction on 45 counts.

Syria

Artillery fire traded with Turkey for a 4th day
Turkey and Syria traded artillery fire for the fourth day in a row Saturday as rebels clashed with President Bashar Assad's forces near the border, heightening fears that the crisis could erupt into a regional conflict.

The diplomatic crisis began on Wednesday, when a Syrian shell killed five civilians in a Turkish border town and triggered unprecedented artillery strikes by Turkey.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Saturday that the U.S. is using its diplomatic channels to relay worries about the fighting in the hopes that it will not broaden the conflict.

Israel

Fighter planes shoot drone over airspace
Israeli fighter planes shot down a drone Saturday that crossed into the country's airspace from the Mediterranean Sea. The drone fell over Israel's southern desert, the military said.

The incident marked the first time in at least six years that a hostile aircraft has penetrated Israel's airspace.

It was not immediately clear who launched the drone.
